Open Door Policy
I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. Revelation 3:8
“An open door policy means, literally, that every manager's door is open to every employee. The purpose of an open door policy is to encourage open communication, feedback, and discussion about any matter of importance to an employee,” according to the online human resource journal, thebalancecareers.com. The purpose of such a policy is to develop trust between the employees and the leadership team. The keys to the success of such a policy are an open line of communication and a sense of empowerment employees experience while working in concert with their leaders.
The church in Philadelphia was apparently experiencing hostility from a group of people who claimed to be Jews and/or Christians but were trying to confuse the believers in the church. The Lord emphasized His open door policy with the believers so they would realize they could experience a free flow of communication with Him and learn to trust His leadership and power during confusing times.
This open door policy was not limited to the Philadelphia church. It is a policy God opens to every believer, past, present, and future, in order for us to experience confidence in the plans God has for us. Though our futures may not always be clear, God promises to maintain open communication lines so that we will have enough guidance and reassurance to take our next steps of faith.
