We said Yes. They said Yes. Let's keep saying Yes to the Lord as we navigate the future.

It's Official!

After last week's time of the Futral family and the Pathway family getting to know each other, it is clear that God is bringing us together. Pastor Rob won't be in Redlands full-time until August, but the leadership team and Rob are working together to schedule several weekends between now and then that the Futrals will be with us. It's exciting to see God moving. I encourage you to keep praying and to keep saying, "Yes!" to God as he moves in our lives and our church.

About Pastor Rob

Passionately Pursuing God's Vision for Life is the vision statement of the church Rob led for 15 years and could very well summarize his life's goal. He believes deeply in the life-changing and on-going difference that a relationship with Jesus Christ makes in a person's life now and eternally. Rob is known as a "down-to-earth" guy who enjoys people and loves to communicate the timeless truth of God's Word into today's world. He was the pastor of Broad moor Baptist Church in Madison, Mississippi, where he served for 15 years. He feels very fortunate to have served with such a great group of people. His ministry at Broadmoor included a focus on preaching that connects to real life, relational and intentional disciple-making, encouraging and equipping men, family ministry, and mobilizing the church for a lifestyle of missions involvement.

Rob and his wife Kimandria were married July 24, 1993. They have three kids, Trea (21), Ridge (18), and Rivers (17). Kimandria is a speech therapist, having earned degrees from The University of Southern Mississippi (BS, 1993) and Louisiana State University (M CD, 1995).

Rob was born in Fort Worth, Texas (September 1, 1971), and grew up in various places in Mississippi (Columbus, Gulfport, and Amory) and Texas (Fort Worth). His family came to the Jackson area when his dad became pastor at Broadmoor in 1985. Rob graduated from Madison-Ridgeland High School (1989). He received his Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies from Mississippi College (1993); his Master of Divinity with Biblical Languages (1995) and his Doctor of Philosophy in New Testament and Greek (2002) from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. During these years, he served in Mississippi and Louisiana as a pastor in the following churches:

  • Horseshoe Baptist Church, Tchula, MS (1989-1993)
  • Line Creek Baptist Church, Kentwood, LA (1993-1995)
  • Edgewater Baptist Church, New Orleans, LA (1995-1999)
  • Country Woods Baptist Church, Byram, MS (1999-2003)
  • Broadmoor Baptist Church, Madison, MS (2003-2018)

Rob has a passion for the local church, mentoring young leaders, church planting, and missions. Under his leadership, Broadmoor has been a part of church plants in New Orleans, New England, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Boston, New York, Vancouver (British Columbia), and Victoria (British Columbia). His passion for living out the Great Commission has led to opportunities to preach and teach in various settings around the world including England, Russia, Kazakhstan, Honduras, Nicaragua, Canada, Togo (West Africa), Ukraine, Haiti, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, Malawi, Israel, Turkey, Jordan, and Egypt.

Other ministry experiences include speaking at various events and organizations locally, nationally, and internationally. Rob has had the privilege of serving on a variety of boards, including Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, MS, The Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi, Training Pastors International, Mississippi Baptist Medical Center Board of Directors and currently serves on the Baptist Health Systems Board of Trustees. He has served as the Mississippi Ambassador for the North American Mission Board from 2015 to the present, and as a Trustee of the International Mission Board from 2016 to the present. He has been involved in a variety of local community ministries in the Metro Jackson area. A desire to make a difference in systemic issues that the state of Mississippi faces has resulted in a number of partnerships with local ministries that address issues such as poverty, illiteracy, racism, and economic disparity.

Rob has taught as a contract professor for New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and Odessa Theological Seminary in Odessa, Ukraine. In 2012, he wrote his first book for Lifeway's January Bible Study entitled, The Greatest Week in History, which is a study of Luke's account of the Passion Week. In 2010, he was honored as the Young Alumnus of Mississippi College.

In his free time, Rob enjoys traveling to new places, learning, developing relationships, running, cycling, reading, mission trips with his family, and supporting his kids in their athletic, academic, and/or musical endeavors. He especially enjoys time with his family and friends.
